Approach

My approach
The two threads that run through my practice are curiosity and compassion, and hope that whatever you’d like to explore, I can help you to foster more of both.

I work integratively, which just means that my training has embraced multiple therapeutic approaches – these include person-centred counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic theory, and some somatic (body-based) techniques. This allows me to adapt the approach in collaboration with you, based on your specific needs and what resonates most.

I aim to work in a way that is collaborative, anti-oppressive, and non-pathologizing – I’m interested in you, your environment, and your experiences, rather than placing the emphasis on disorders or symptoms. If you have a pre-existing diagnosis that is useful to you, this is welcome within the process.

I believe that good ‘fit’ in the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important components in this work, so I can offer an initial chat via video call to give you the opportunity to ask any questions and help you decide if I’m the right counsellor for you.

My interests
15 years of working in live arts means I have direct experience and insight into the particular demands of the creative industries, including touring, so I’m always interested in supporting clients from these backgrounds.

I have experience of counselling within a sexual health setting and my practice is sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, and welcoming of neurodiversity.

I’m also well-acquainted with alternative relationship styles (non-monogamy, polyamory, etc.) and kink practices; I recognise how important it is to feel like you can bring your whole self into counselling, but that it can sometimes be difficult to broach these topics with a provider.
